Member Nominated for ‘Best Male Presenter’ and ‘Young Person of The Year’

We are proud to announce NYFA member/alumni, Mark Jarvis, has been nominated for both Best Male Presenter, and Young Person Of The Year (Sponsored by BBC Local Radio) in the national Community Radio Awards.

After receiving the Bronze Award for Male Presenter and being awarded Best Newcomer last year (2017), Jarvis has managed get recognised yet again. Whittled down from 360 entries from 77 stations, he has secured himself an incredible two nominations.

It’s safe to say that Jarvis’s presenting career is off to a tremendous start. All the while, he’s been balancing his studies (Acting) at ARLA, still set on his goal of becoming an Actor.

With great presenting skills, comes great interviewing skills. Jarvis has interviewed a number of exciting people from musicians and singers such as; Tom Walker, Nina Nesbitt, Catherine McGrath, Tom Grennan, Louis Berry, BILK and Alice from RiZE festival 2018.

Jarvis also has his very own vlog called ‘Backstage Brew’.  In his vlog, he heads backstage (with a brew – of course) to conduct laid-back interviews.

You can watch his first episode below.

His second episode, which takes place at ‘We Are Festival’, will be uploaded shortly.

Mark Jarvis at The National Youth Film Academy

With dreams of becoming an Actor, Jarvis joined us here at The National Youth Film Academy back in 2013.  We saw great potential in him and have remained in close contact ever since.

In fact, Jarvis joined us on this year’s Summer #SetReady Course as an Usher. We even passed the microphone to him to interview Cinematographer, Phil Meheux (Casino Royale, GoldenEye), knowing it would be in safe hands! The interview will be up on our site and social media soon, so keep an eye out.
